I teach..... and I learn.... and my eyes are opened

Short story:
Today I taught a lesson to my World Geography class. We are studying the continent of Africa. I focused on the conflicts there. Did you know that in Africa nearly 9.5 million people have been forced out of their countries into refugee camps? In Kenya right now due to political unrest 600+ people have been killed...In Sudan the muslims are fighting the christians for control....in Angola they have been fighting for 25 years in a brutal civil war....in Sierra Leone the rebel forces are slowing taking over. Almost every country has some type of political or civilian unrest.

"If this scale of destruction and fighting was in Europe, then people would be calling it World War III with the entire world rushing to report, provide aid, mediate and otherwise try to diffuse the situation."....but it's not Europe and we are not helping.

Why?

And who is all this effecting?

"Over half of the people killed in African conflicts are children"

It makes me want to go to Africa and do something....anyone want to come?
