Sunday

In leu of Halloween....

I'm not a Halloween person usually, but I decided I would try and get into the spirit. I watched a few scary films....and went to the city cemetery....and I might go to a haunted house. Probably not but maybe. I did have a purpose in going to the graveyard. I found out that my great grandparents were buried there. I never was able to meet them so when I found out they were in town:) I decided I would go up and pay my respects. Pretty cool experience....and I saw what a real city cemetery looks like...HUGE! Here are some pictures.

Hey Dad I saw this one this last time I went....I think we are related?

JaNae Anderson standing next to her Great Grandparents (Catten)

These are my great aunt and great Uncle...

"Great Uncle George never got married, spent 22 hrs in the Atlantic Ocean after getting torpedoed by a German U-boat (WWI)...was everybody's favorite Uncle because he always gave us money and had such a since of humor." Dad wrote this too me about Great Uncle George.(Uncle George was named after him)

Close up on the Great Grandparents.

For each little square on this paper there are ten graves!! This paper depicts only a small section of the cemetery.

This is the full on map of the cemetery...crazy huge!

Beside visiting family...I decided to go meet some of the prophets that were buried in the area. This is David O. McKay.

President Gordon B. Hinckley....

Heber J. Grant

More on Grant Tomb's :)

George Albert Smith

Orson Pratt

Debating...on whether this is the true Wilford Woodruff (the prophet's)...or somebody with a similiar name. Seems like he should have a big one too, but maybe back in his time those were not as cool.

So this just captures part of the cemetery...maybe 10% of it.

Welcome gate to the cemetery...WELCOME!

Hey family come visit me in Salt Lake during this Halloween season and I'll take you on a personal tour of the city cemetery. I kept the maps so I can find all the cool place:)

We looked it up and it is not Wilford Woodruff's grave unfortunately but you certainly did come across some cool finds. We are so proud of you at this very moment and love to learn more about where we came from. We might have to take you up on your offer and get the official tour of the cemetery

I've never been up to that cemetery. it would be cool to see the prophet's graves. and maybe we could run into you there too.

I like cemeteries...me and Dave walked around Sugar City's for "fun." It wasn't quite as big as SLC...we'll have to visit it altogether sometime and you can give us a personal tour!
